Marilyn Monroe-inspired beauty looks are trending. Pinterest saw a spike in searches related to Old Hollywood glamour after the release of Netflix's movie "Blonde." The "Monroecore" beauty trend spans hair and makeup and can include everything from a bold red lip to a curled bob and flirty lashes.

The latest movies and TV shows have a profound impact on beauty trends. When Hulu's "Pam & Tommy" debuted in February 2022, people ran to dye their hair bleach blond; in April 2022, following the first look at Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in the upcoming "Barbie" movie, Barbiecore spread rapidly across hair, makeup, and nail categories; and now, with the new Marilyn Monroe film "Blonde" out on Netflix starring Ana de Armas, "Monroecore" is shaping up to be the next big thing in beauty.

Monroe's signature hair and makeup look is widely known — to say it's iconic is even an understatement. "Pretty much everyone knows what that looks like," the makeup department head for "Blonde," Tina Roesler Kerwin, previously told POPSUGAR. From her blond curled-bob haircut to her bold red lip and cat-eye liner down to the birthmark that sits on her lower left cheek, Monroe embodies Old Hollywood glamour.

Ahead of the movie's release on Sept. 29, searches for "1950s makeup" on Pinterest spiked 55 percent, and searches for "Old Hollywood glam" spiked by 70 percent, proving that the classic bombshell look is making a swift return. But how exactly do 1950s hair and makeup fit into the 21st century? You won't necessarily be seeing Monroe's exact hair and makeup make a return, but elements inspired by her beauty aesthetic certainly will be. Just look at Kim Kardashian's soft glam and platinum-blond hair at the 2022 Met Gala to see an example of just that.

Think fluttery, thick eyelashes achieved through strips of faux lashes to replicate the actor's dreamy eyes, and black winged eyeliner on only on the top lash line to emphasis those lashes, as seen on Sophie Turner at Paris Fashion Week with her "siren" eyes.

Instead of Monroe's pin-curl style, you'll see more people chopping their hair shorter into a bob haircut for the fall and winter months and sunsetting their middle part. "The whole summer long was all about middle partings and the flatness at the root," celebrity hairstylist Tom Smith says in a TikTok video. "This autumn, I think we're going to be seeing a lot more of that kind of comfy, cozy glamour." This will really pump up the volume in your hair, à la Monroe. The perfect example of this vibe: Megan Thee Stallion at the 2021 Met Gala.

With the colder months often associated with an air of sexy sophistication, beckoning moodier lipstick tones and romantic hairstyles, Monroecore fits right in.
